Rebate

The deadline for renewing enrollment in the IGA Charitable Rebate Program is Monday, June 30. By re-enrolling through registering your HVC card, Saint Columcille Church or Saint Elizabeth Council of Catholic Women or Knights of Columbus will receive rebates for a percentage of your food purchases at Jerry’s IGA. Select your preference of the three available forms below, complete it, and take it to the service desk at Jerry’s IGA. (Each household can register with only one organization.) You will continue to receive the usual card benefits and help your favorite beneficiary by the rebates. Of course, if you do not have an HVC card or have not been enrolled in the rebate program, that too can be arranged at the service desk.

Oh boy, breakfast!

The Parish Youth Group invites everyone to a Biscuit and Gravy Breakfast after Mass next Sunday, June 22. Cost? Your taste buds will tell you what to tip…any and all donations will be gratefully accepted.

Mission co-op Sunday

This weekend we welcome Father Protasio Nyaga. He will tell us about the needs of the Diocese of Meru, Kenya and the needs of the people there. Relying heavily on appeals, they are grateful for our prayers and financial assistance. If unprepared today, you may make an offering next Sunday. Checks should be made payable to Saint Columcille Church.

Built on Faith, Renewed in Hope

Have you given a contribution to the diocesan-wide campaign for the renovation of our Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield? All of us have been asked to take part in this historic renovation of the eighty-year-old cathedral complex. We are on the way to reaching our goal of $16,700. Do prayerfully consider what you can give. Then complete the pledge card and direct it to Springfield or put it in the weekend Mass collection. Thank you!

May he rest in peace

Father Anthony Chepanis, formerly of our diocese, and incardinated into the Diocese of Palm Beach in 1962, died November 16, 2007, and was buried at Boca Raton, Florida.

Dear Dad: It’s that time of the year again when we think about that very important man in our lives — our father. It’s that time of the year when we thank the one person in our lives who made us what we are — our father.

You were so important to me and you still are. I am what you were; for that I am thankful. For the person you made me to be, I am thankful to you. I have your example to follow and I am glad for it.

Much has happened in the last year and I felt you with me every day, still guiding me, still gently nudging me, still approving or disapproving. Each decision I made had a little of you in it. My choices were because of you, not always the right ones, but yours weren’t always right, either.

As I grew up through those tumultuous years, I fought your influence, your guidance — now I long for it. I can only be thankful that your sermons were repeated enough times, that they are still ringing in my ears. Your words are unforgettable.

So, Dad, once again on this Father’s Day, I will visit your grave and say, “Happy Father’s Day to the best father in the world or the next!”

— Bernie Marzullo, Prospect Heights

Happy Father’s Day!
